MarcyAnna was born in Poland on 14 August, 1878. She came to Mount Pleasant PA with relatives about 1891 after her father remarried. Her siblings were old enough to take care of therselves but Marcianna was still too young. Apparently her step mother wasn't interested. After being supposidly mistreated by the cousins she came to stay with she went to live and work in the Transfiguration Polish church in Mt. Pleasant until she married. The story was that she had shoes but she wasn't allowed to wear them. Her Wozniak relatives reported this to the parish priest and he had her taken in as a helper to his housekeeper.
